As part of the “It’s Time for Iraqi Women” initiative

The Women Leaders Institute, as part of a delegation of women’s organizations in Iraq, participated in a meeting held with His Excellency President Nizar Amidi on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.

The women’s delegation was headed by Ms. Khanum Latif, and included a select group of representatives from various organizations and activists in the field of women’s rights. The Women Leaders Institute was represented by lawyer Iman Abdul Rahman, who addressed the importance of supporting and empowering Iraqi women in various fields, with a focus on economic empowerment and strengthening women’s role in decision-making positions. The meeting also discussed the challenges related to climate change and its impact on women.

The meeting included congratulating His Excellency the President on assuming office, as well as discussing the most prominent issues and challenges facing Iraqi women and ways to enhance their active participation in society and state institutions.

During the meeting, the President affirmed the Presidency’s support for initiatives and programs that contribute to strengthening women’s rights and expanding their role in the development and reconstruction process. He commended the efforts of Iraqi women’s organizations in serving social and humanitarian causes.
