Session on the right to grant citizenship to women

The Women Leadership Institute, in cooperation with the Iraqi Women Lawyers Forum, implemented a session on the legal articles stipulated in the Iraqi Nationality Law No. 26 of 2006 and the controls in force regarding the right to grant citizenship.

The session was attended by a group of female lawyers in the Iraqi Women Lawyers Forum and a representative of the Human Rights Commission.

The right to grant citizenship to women was discussed, which is a very important step towards achieving equality. The session provided an opportunity to understand the laws and rights related to citizenship accurately, especially in the legal and administrative contexts in force. The necessary procedures and rights resulting from that were clarified.

The session contributed to raising awareness about issues related to citizenship in enhancing legal support for women, which helps achieve equality and justice in society.

Dr. Faten Al-Halfi stressed the need for cooperation and coordination between organizations to hold such fruitful legal sessions.
