The head of the Women Leaders Institute, lawyer Iman Abdul Rahman, met with the Director of the Office of the Head of the High Commission for Human Rights and Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the National Office, Engineer Nour Abdul Aziz, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in various fields, contributing to the support and consolidation of women’s rights.
During the meeting, Abdul Rahman emphasized the Institute’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the Commission, which would strengthen national efforts aimed at empowering women and protecting families from violence. She highlighted the Institute’s most prominent achievements in supporting human rights and women’s rights, as well as its role in urging government entities to sign and ratify international agreements and protocols related to women’s rights.
She also expressed the Institute’s desire to conclude a joint cooperation agreement with the Commission, which would contribute to implementing impactful programs and initiatives that serve women’s issues and raise public awareness of their rights.
For her part, Engineer Nour Abdul Aziz reviewed the Commission’s efforts in monitoring the status of women’s rights through its offices in Baghdad and the provinces, by documenting violations and referring them to the relevant authorities, in addition to implementing awareness and educational programs in cooperation with civil society organizations and government institutions.
The meeting was attended by a number of specialists from the Women’s Affairs and Public Relations and Media departments of the Commission, where the importance of joint coordination to achieve community development goals and promote human rights principles was emphasized.
